Today we travelled from Amarillo to Santa Fe  via a pre-1937 route 66. Our journey started at the famous Cadillac Ranch.   This art consists of 10 cars planted nose down in the soil.  It was pretty muddy but we managed to make our mark

Our next stop was Adrian the mid point of route 66.  We stopped and had our breakfast at the Midpoint cafe and also took some pie for the road.

We  said fairwell to Texas and entered the sun state of New Mexico the route up to Santa Fe was absolutely stunning.

Wow!
Wow!

Santa Fe is very different to anything we had encountered before, we did a bit of shopping, including purchasing our cowboy gear for the Rodeo and enjoyed a “new Mexican” meal  before heading to our lodgings for the night the Silver Saddle Motel to get ready for the Rodeo.

When I first arrived at the rodeo I was a little unsure but it was actually a lot of fun. I especially liked the cowgirl barrel racing.

We  are really getting into the cowboy life including Country music…some of our favourites are Automatic, Chainsaw and Drunk on a Plane….check them out if you can!
