How does Florida get it Oranges so Orange!

We are greeted with glorious sunshine as we pull back the curtains. Google says it’s going to be 21c max so I put on my shorts (Chris always has his on, it’s not weather dependent!) And head out.. there’s only one thing to do on a day like this

It’s busy out as we artfully navigate ourselves to Long wharf the starting point of various boat tours. We are here for one trip in particular..the search for Codzilla.

The boat ride recommends not traveling on a full stomach so we opt for a pretzel snack before joining the queue to board.. we are warned that we may get wet, the further back on the boat you go the wetter you may get.

We choose to sit in the dry zone near the front and strap ourselves in ready to go in search of Codzilla.

We speed out into the harbour as our tour guide Brian tells us about the time he came face to face with Codzilla on a fishing trip with his dad.

We soon arrive at deer island, home to Boston’s sewage treatment works, here they treat the sewage to become Boston Drinking water and fertilizer used in Florida Orange groves… now we know why the Florida oranges are so good. Brian tells is the story of how Codzilla came to be, one day an intern got a bit bored and flipped the outlet pipe to intake, sucking up some baby cod fish, the staff though they had rescued the all but one remained in one of the waste treatment eggs, where on the toxic waste he grew and grew untill one day he broke out, he found his family but they shunned him so he now roams the harbour waters.

The boat is gently spinning as Brian shouts to the captain, is that you..no he replies the Sonar is picking up some thing big…oh no we have to get out of here! The captain skillfully navigates us to safety, it’s hair raising as we weave and spin to get out of the Codzillas grip, Phew…. we slow down as Brian tells more about Codzilla.. oh no were spinning again.. quick back to Boston. We get out of the grasp of Codzilla and head back into to Long wharf. We take a slow pace so we are allowed to get up, walk around and take photos, the view of Boston is spectacular.

We arrive back on dry land and spend the afternoon walking around Long Wharf, there a craft market on and we pick up a couple of bits.

Lunch is at Joe’s all American Bar and Grill, Chris has a burger and I go for buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese.

We take a slow meander back to the hotel via Boston Common, it’s a lot different today than the 1st time we stumbled upon it last Sunday in the rain. It’s bustling with people sunbathing, playing in the park, buskers, food stalls, as well as gradutes getting thier pictures taken.

There is time for a quick rest before we head out to the House of Blues for night 3 of Lost Evenings.

Can you spot Chris.
