Aménager un parking
Today started with one of the free tours offered by the Hotel, The Saint Laurent River Tour. We make our way from the hotel through the streets of Quebec City and board the boat across the River, before returning to the Petit Chamblin, considered as one of the most picturesque streets in North America. Our tour guide tells us that in the 1960s the street was left derelict and the government were considering tearing it down to out up a parking lot, however two architects purchased it and renovated the street and it is now an artisan cooperative.
The tour is filled with facts, we learn how the British further fortified the city by building a fort as they felt they were going to be invaded by the Americans. The Americans, who had limited number of number of men and their contract with their milliitia comming to an end wanted to try and catch the British off guard decided to strike on New Years eve, only a snow storm came in so they didn’t get a chance.
We also learnt the Palace Royal, a small cobbled square, featured in the last scene of one of our favourite films Catch Me If You Can.
Tour finished we opt for lunch in a local microbrewery where Chris goes for beef poutine and I have shrimp tacos.
We spend the a few hours stolling through the lower part of the city, possibly making a few purchases as we go. We head back the hotel via the fernicular (finally Chris got to go in one) and head up for a swim and a sit inthe terrace.
Dinner tonight was at no 900 pizzeria, I have an artichoke pizza, which was absolutely delicious and Chris has a five mushroom pizza.
We end the evening with a stroll round the city, it’s so beautiful at night and a lot quieter than during the day.
