California Dreamin’

California Dreamin’

Less than 24 hours to go until we land on the West coast. A last minute bit of stress almost meant that the blog might not go a head as we both forgot our passwords. It felt a bit to much like my day job to be hunting down database logins to ‘hack’ our passwords. We will now attempt to get some sleep and do some ‘California Dreamin’. It now feels we have too much to do, see and eat…

West Coast Countdown

2 years, 1 month and 22 days ago we left America after our 2 weeks travelling the ‘Mother Road’. Leaving behind the sunny beach of Santa Monica was a sad end to an amazing road trip. On that day we vowed to return as soon as possible. In 13 days we will land in LAX to start a new adventure. This time travelling the West Coast of the USA. Beginning our trip from were we left last time, Santa Monica,…

Next Stop…

Seattle! No we haven’t extended the holiday, now reliant on planes and the rather useless BA to get us home, we are currently waiting in Sea Tac airport waiting to transfer home! So in the meantime what did we do yesterday? Deciding that we’d done enough driving, the theme park was off the cards, so a bus trip taking in the sights of LA, including a stop at Hollywood to see the walk of fame and Chinese Theatre.   We…

‘Gallup’ing through New Mexico

After a few long days travelling we today set off to Gallup with a few less stops along the way. A large part of the day was spent visiting the Breaking Bad sights of Albuquerque, which won’t mean much to you if you haven’t seen the show! This is the way to Amarillo

After the night hugging pillows in Oklahoma City, we were on our way to Amarillo. Leaving behind a stormy city..which was needed after the 30°c nights. On route we stopped at 2 Route 66 museums for a bit of a history lesson on Route 66. We also passed through Erick and had to snap a picture of the sign   Lunch was provided by a roadside café in Texalo, the last place on Route 66 in Oklamhoma, before hitting Texas,…

Get your Sticks on Route 66

After a morning touring the Lincoln sites of Springfield, Brunch was at Cosy Dog. Cosy Dog is a Historic site on Route 66, where the concept of a battered corn dog on a stick was born.   And we got a trip mascot for the car

Ending the day at A Microbrewery in Springfield

Ending the day at A Microbrewery in Springfield

202 miles down, we finish our long day in Springfield, Illinois. Arriving later than planned, we end up at a microbrewery for a late night meal and one of the beers brewed on site. So that’s 2 Buffalo Chicken Horseshoes.. And a couple of Mother Road APAs and Belgian Style IPAs. What’s a horse shoe?
