Do you know the way to San Jose

Do you know the way to San Jose

Fuelled by the hotel’s bagel bar breakfast the day starts with a stroll to Carmel’s beach.

The crash of the waves breaking was actually quite relaxing  and we stand for a while just soaking in the atmosphere.

The walk back to the hotel sees us picking up a significant otter to keep us company for the remainder of our journey.

On route to San Fransico we stop at the Computer History Museum  in Silicon Valley.  We join the tour  and spend the 1st hour travelling through time hearing about the birth and eveloution if the computer.  The tour ends at the Apple 2 computer where the tour guide Paul Laughton informs us that he wrote the apple dos operating system… Chris is slightly in awe.

The next couple hours is spend walking  around ending with us sitting in a google self driving car.

Leaving a little later then planned we head back to our regular car and into San Fransisco.   Chris does extremely well in safely getting us to the hotel despite peak traffic, randomly appearing bus lanes, pedestrians not using crossings, GPS signals falling out, one way systems and an extremely stressed Vic.

Needing to calm down we head straight to the pool for a swim and a soak in the whirlpool spa  before getting ready for our evening out.

Dinner is at One Market a posh American resturant I start with the signature Trout starter followed by Liberty Duck Breast. Chris starts with a charcuterie board followed by the Pork tenderloin signature main.We eat listening to the live piano.  The food is delicious and we leave with full bellies as we head to out for a cocktail.

During preparation of the holiday Chris read about a Bar with a difference called Bourbon and Branch.

Arriving at an unmarked door we ring the bell, as we are greeted we are asked for the password. After the formalilies are completed we are allowed in. We are in a dimly lit speakeasy bar.  We are taken our booth where we are taken through the extensive drinks menu.

Chris begins with a Cucumber Gimlet and I have a Fits the Bill.  We sip our delicious  drinks and soak up the atmosphere, listening to the 20s playslist. Its extremely relaxing!

The drinks are strong so its one more each. This time I opt for Heavy Artillery which is lovely and cinnamony, and Chris has the chipotle smokey Hot Pursuit.

One of the rules of Bourbon and Branch is no photos and phones, so no pics.  But it was a wonderful unforgettable way to end our 1st evening in SF.
