Greetings from Springfield
Our Lyft driver obviously can sense we are not in a talkative mood at this time in the morning, as he drives us into Hollywood to Universal Studios, after a little bit of confusion we are dropped at the guest drop off point and make our way down the City Walk and head into the Park.
Having realised when we prebooked our tickets that it was labour day weekend we upgraded our tickets to “front of the line ” which we realise later in the day as we walk past queues of people who are waiting in line for 60mins was an extremely good decision. We collect our Pass Lanyard and head straight into Springfield home of the Simpsons.
It’s a little it overwhelming as we make our way into Krustyland for our 1st ride of the day… Not being sure what we should expect we are soon being spun and flung around as Side Show Bob tries to kill us.
Leaving Krustyland and we hear an announcement that a studio tour is just about to leave and we are soon being shown the sites of a working TV and Movie Lot.. Unfortunately though due to it being a holiday no celebs were spotted.
Having not had any breakfast our hunger starts to get the better of us and there is only one place we want to go… Krusty Burger! Its a standard Krusty burger for me and a Clogger burger for Chris both washed down with a Buzz Cola. We are very impressed with the burgers with Chris even saying he preferred it to his Fathers office burger…controversial!
After watching the Special Effects show we head into Hogsmede for a Butterbeer (we head back to Springfield get Chris a Flaming Moe) and a walk round the shops. We are soon in the queue for the the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. After a little bit of annoyance with the organisation of the locker system, we are soon flying through Hogworts and its grounds.
Heading to the lower lot we are soon on a delightful tour of Jurrasic Park until we realise a Raptor has escaped….Oh No..there is only one way to safety .. Down a 80ft waterfall…with the hype of the wet and wild we were slightly dissapointed how dry we were when we alighted.
Next we head to the Mummy ride and having never seen the film we didn’t know what to expect. But we are soon being propelled to 45 mph being chased by numerous sandy monsters.
We attempt the Transformers ride but are told that there is a technical error…oh well lets see if it is fixed later.
Walking down the streets of Paris we soon spot the Despicable Me ride.. And the next thing we know we are being transformed into Minions…but don’t worry it didn’t work so we are still in our human form!
After a Duff Beer we head to Waterworld. As we enter we are told that the green benches are the soak zone. That’s front and centre for us then…luckily its hot as we are soon soaked to the bone as the Waterworld inhabitants are attacked by the Smokers looking for dry land.
Now dry and another 2 rides ticked off we are soon eating Nachos and Tacos from Bumblebee Mans Food Tuck.
The evening is drawing in now so we tick off the Shrek 4D ride and Animal Actors show before making our purchases for the day…matching Simpsons “Best Vacation Ever” T-shirts.
The queues are almost non-existent as we ride the Simpsons ride a couple of more times.. Then its time for us to think about leaving.
After another Butterbeer we purchase a Lard Lad ‘Big Pink’ donut for the road then our Lyft driver Amanda drops our tired bodies back at the hotel.
We are soon snoozing away ready for the start of our road trip.
