I don’t know how it happened but we are running 37 minutes late!

I don’t know how it happened but we are running 37 minutes late!

Is the announcement made by the train manager as we pull into Kingston on our mammoth train jouney between Quebec City and Toronto.

Goodbye Quebec

As we are going to spend most of the days in our bums we decide to walk to the train station,  the streets are quiet at this time in the morning and its downhill all the way its a far easier walk than on our arrival.

We board the train and are soon speeding our way through the Canadian countryside before transferring to our second train in Montreal.

The Toronto train is older than the modern train that took us to Quebec City, its so bouncy and seems to get even bouncier when the meal is served!

As we approach Oshawa we look out and see a large expanse of water, a quick Google tells us this is Lake Ontario,  the 13th Largest lake in the world- you can fit England into it over 8 times!

We finally arrive in Toronto at 7.15pm having set off from Quebec at 8:06am. We navigate out of Union Station making sure we exit on correct street and are immediately confronted by numerous Taxi drivers asking if we want a lift luckily our hotel is just a short walk away.

As we walk to the hotel we notice lots of people with Blue Jay’s shirts, The Blue Jays are playing the St Louis Cardinals, a team we saw 10 years ago on our Route 66 adventure.  Chris doesn’t feel so out of place with his hat on here.

We check in and are given a room on the 17th floor with views of the tower and Lake Onterio.

Needing to move we head to the pool thinking it will be quiet however all the Children in Toronto seem to be there!

It’s getting late now, but we are feeling hungry so we head out for a quick bite to eat.  Toronto is a world away from Quebec city. It’s busy, there is a lot of people and cars.

TORONTO

We are surprisingly feeling quite jetlagged so decide to head to grab a drink from a local store before heading back to the hotel.. I get my first glimpse of Ryde in the wild!
